friends in futsal

Okay, I'll say it: Sadly, I didn't make the cut for the first-ever international tourney for our first-ever national ladies futsal team. Loads of politics surrounding this--as with many other sports in Malaysia, sigh--but anyway am proud of my fellow trainees who did make it to the 2nd Asian Indoor Games in Macau recently.

Though our results were a tad scary (see below), but hey we gotta start somewhere! Plus we did draw into the tough group (read: Thailand, Iran, and eventual '07 champs Japan) so the fact that newbies-us did manage to sneak some goals past the more experienced teams is pretty good, I reckon.

Here're Malaysia's scores:

FIRST ROUND
Iran vs Malaysia 13-1
Thailand vs Malaysia 17-0
Malaysia vs Japan 0-5

SECOND ROUND
4th of A vs 3rd of B: Malaysia vs Philippines 2-5
3rd of A vs 4th of A: Iran vs Malaysia 17-2

In the final matches, Uzbekistan beat Vietnam 2-1 while the Japs overcame SEA giants Thailand 5-3.

I've gotta admit that we have a LONG way to go, but if we don't try then we'll never advance in the sport, innit.

Nways, below are some pictures of my fellow lady futsallers in action. Oh, and I'm proud to announce that my team, Sports Barn Wildcatz, had one rep in Raveena who also scored one for Malaysia against Iran. Yay her!

Raveena terrorising up front. She didn't score in this one, but she did put one at the back of Iran's net!

giant crap

Hello, hello! It's been a while, I know... but heck, does anyone out there really read my posts? If they do, then THANK YOU! hehe

Nways, just needed to hiss a little. But first, I'll start with some purrs.

Our oven (for those who don't know, my hubs and I have moved into our own cosy lil pad) is finally working! It was a looooong and painful journey for it to be so--let's just say that my kitchen people are a bunch of BSers--and finally today I got to test it.

Opps, that was a hiss, wasn't it? Okay. Anyhow. I made baked chicken breast with herbed butter, along with some savoury Mexican brown rice. They each took around 40 minutes or so to prepare and cook. The rice turned out really yummy ("like restaurant" says the hubs, yippee!) but the chicken? Hell, they tasted totally off!

Mind you, it's not my cooking ya (the herbed butter sauce turned out tasting fine) but it's 'cause the chicken itself--they were busuk, can you imagine!

This totally ticked me off, man! Especially since we just went grocery shopping earlier this week. Plus, the label said that the expiry date is 2nd Nov if refrigerated/later if frozen. And I usually freeze my meats.

That's not all, people. Yesterday, I found my kitchen drawer where I keep potatoes, onions and garlic full of flies, maggots and teeny-weeny eggs. Why? Because some of the potatoes were rotten, argh!

To top it all off, the mixed salad weren't that fresh, either. We had to throw some out.

Sigh. What's up with the stuff sold at Giant? The hubs and I have vowed to never shop there again. I seriously feel like feeding the chicken to the owners...
